In analyzing lubricating oil for Indonesia and asean, the American, Europen and Japanese system have to be studied and examined first, because these must be understood in order to know, the engine oil qualification, classification, specification and its test methods. Knowing these system by studying their Philosophies, the possible asean position is considered, taking the approach of Indonesia in qualifying its lubricating oils as an illustrative example.
