In order to facilitate the exchange of fuel products within the ASEAN region, fuel specifications in one ASEAN countries and anoyher should be compatible. However the specifications currently in force in each country are resulted from the specific conditions in the country concerned. Such conditions include the types of fuel consuming equipment utilities in the country the refining facilities existing, as well as the history of the country. The fuel specifications presently applicable in ASEAN countries are compared in this paper, their differences and similarities are examined briefly. Finally,certain approach is proposed towards the uniformity and eventually towards the standardization of fuel specifications in the region.
