The engine will run well if it is lubricated with suitable lubricating oil. It can not run well without lubrication and this mean that the industries which use the engines can not operation. Due to this reason, we need to do reaserch to find lubricting oil base stock from non petroleum resource as we are faced with the possibility of shortage of supplies of petroleum base stock in the future. results of reaserch which have been done show that kapok seed oil can be used as a base stock for lubricating oil, i.e. its viscosity about 60 cst at 100 derajat F and 11 cSt at 210 derajat F, this shows that kapok seed oil has a high viscosity index. its flash point (327 derajat C) also higher than minimum flash point for base stock of Arabian Light Crude of Cilacap refinery.
